A conifer, Austrian pine is a pyramidal tree with a top that flattens with age.  You'll often find this tough species planted in cities for its fast growth and cold-, ice-, wind-, and pollution-tolerance, or by lakes and oceans, where it tolerates salt spray and dry, sandy, infertile soils.

Use as windbreaks, screens, roadside, plantings, Christmas trees; naturalize for wildlife habitat
